Terms of use

The agreement between you and the operator of WallQ. It is written to be read, not to be survived.

By using WallQ you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, please do not post.

Who WallQ is for

WallQ is intended for people aged 16 or over. We do not ask for your date of birth and we do not verify your age, because doing so would mean collecting far more about you than this service otherwise needs.

There is no account

You can post, comment, like, share and report without registering. A display name is optional, is not reserved, is not unique, is not verified, and does not create a profile. Two posts under the same name may be two different people.

This is not the same as being anonymous. WallQ stores a keyed pseudonym derived from your browser so it can apply rate limits, prevent abuse and show you your own pending content. Your posts may also be traceable by other means, including by anyone you tell. Do not post anything on the assumption that it can never be connected to you.

Everything here is public

Every post, comment and piece of media you submit is published on one public wall, visible to anyone, and may be indexed by search engines, quoted, screenshotted, archived or shared elsewhere.

We can remove something from WallQ. We cannot remove it from anywhere it has already been copied.

What you are responsible for

You are responsible for what you post. By posting you confirm that you have the right to post it, and that it does not break the law or the House rules.

Do not use WallQ to break the law, to harm people, to deceive people, to infringe someone's rights, or to disrupt the service for everyone else. Do not try to circumvent rate limits, moderation or security measures.

Your content stays yours

You keep every right you already had in what you post. We claim no ownership.

We do need permission to actually run the service. By posting, you grant JGHP BV a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to store, process, moderate, resize, transcode, display and distribute that content, and to let others share a link to it, for the purpose of operating and protecting WallQ.

That licence is limited to running WallQ. It does not let us sell your content, license it on to someone else, or use it in advertising. It ends when the content is removed, except where a copy must be kept for a moderation record or to meet a legal obligation.

Moderation, restriction and removal

Content is checked automatically. Uncertain or risky material waits for a human. Reports are read by a person and never delete anything on their own.

We may hide, restrict or remove content, and restrict access to the service, where it breaks these terms, breaks the House rules, or breaks the law. You get a plain-language reason and can appeal — see Reporting & appeals.

Moderators can allow, hide, restore or remove content. Moderators never edit what you wrote. If something is unacceptable it is removed, not quietly rewritten.

Links and third-party services

Posts may link to other websites. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for them. Following a link is your decision.

WallQ relies on service providers to operate — for hosting, content delivery, media storage and automated safety checks. They are listed on Privacy & cookies.

What WallQ does not promise

WallQ is offered as it is. In plain terms, we do not promise that:

• the service will always be available, or free of faults;
• your post will stay up, be seen, or reach any particular number of people;
• content will be kept for any length of time;
• that posting without an account makes you anonymous or untraceable;
• a display name identifies who it appears to identify;
• every rule-breaking post will be caught, or caught quickly.

WallQ is a small, free service. Our liability to you is limited to what the law allows us to limit — and no further. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.

Changes and ending the service

We may change WallQ, these terms, or the House rules. Material changes will be reflected in the change date at the bottom of the page. Continuing to use WallQ after a change means you accept it.

We may suspend or end the service. If we do, we will try to say so in advance where that is practical.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of the Netherlands, and disputes go to the competent courts of the Netherlands, because that is where the operator is established.

If you are a consumer in another EU or EEA country, this does not take away the protection of mandatory consumer rules in your own country, or your right to bring a case there where the law gives you that right.

If any part of these terms turns out to be unenforceable, the rest still applies.
